 FIRE
 Fires are bad for
forests?
Fires have affected most forests at one time or another,
and are a natural part of many forest ecosystems
e.g. those where pine is the dominant tree.
Many fires are started by people.
Fire needs to be managed properly.
Protection from fire is often necessary, but must be done properly
- if combustible material is allowed to accumulate,
when eventually fire does occur the result may be catastrophic.
Climate change may be making some areas drier than before,
increasing the risk of fire.
