VERTICAL CLASSIFICATION
Almost everyone seems to have the same problem of keeping documents in order, easily available, and
in manageable
numbers. Although there is no one sure way of doing this, try to do the following every time documentation
lands on your
desk. Once seen, do one of three things:
-
If you need to refer to it later, put it on file as soon as possible.
-
If someone else needs it, but not you, pass it on!
-
If you don’t need it - bin or recycle it immediately!
Documents left on your desk or pending trays have a habit of reproducing and becoming unmanageable very
quickly. If you
must let them remain, try the technique of RED LETTER TOPICS to help you find them.
