INVENTORY INFORMATION
Avoid the temptation to collect too much information. Be clear what the purpose of the inventory
is and how the data is
going to be used. For commercial harvesting, you may only need to assign species to broad market
groups and avoid the
task of identification to species level in all cases. Similarly, although information will be required
on the diameter distribution
for the pole crop in order to assess that there will be adequate regeneration, sampling of smaller diameters
can be done in
sub plots in order to minimise the work load.
