SWEET TEA
In some parts of the world, the tea that you get offered is so sweet it will make your teeth grit -
and even the memory years
later can have the same effect! Do you drink it or not? Are you thirsty? Will it rot your teeth? Is
there any legitimate reason
to refuse the hospitality? Sadly there generally isn't. This hazard can come in other forms with unspeakable
delicacies or tit-bits, and we will all draw the line somewhere. But in the case of sweet tea, you may
as well assume it is the best form of
boiled water that will be on offer, so better to drink it sugar and all. Adjusting your diet subsequently
may avoid any long-term physical damage, but be prepared that you will have to live with the memory!
