GETTING IN TO HOTWATER
In some countries, diesel fuel is not well refined. It may contain wax which can solidify on cool mornings. There is a trick to
avoid grinding to a halt several yards down the road. First pour a kettle of boiling water slowly over
the fuelpump. This will
help to warm the fuel and melt the wax. You may also need to put a muff on the radiator (but remember
to remove once
the engine is warm). In India and Nepal the locals can be seen using a more radical method - lighting
small fires under the
fuel tank. This is not recommended! An insurance company would look dimly on any claim resulting.
