FORESTERS' TIPS, TECHNIQUES, AND TRICKS OF THE TRADE

bullet1 TECHNICAL

bullet2 EMERGENCY TOOLKIT

Need something pocket-sized in the forest?  Try the following. Instead of a Swiss Army knife or those expensive but breakable multipurpose tools, buy a 6” Mole Wrench (the sort that adjusts and remains clamped). By itself it handles a whole range of nuts, will cut and bend wire, and act as a third hand to clamp things. If you get a selection of screwdriver bits, jigsaw and knife blades, files, etc. you can use the wrench as a multipurpose handle to hold them. You can also make your own tool heads, like a chisel or hammer. If any of these break, you can replace them, instead of throwing the whole thing away. Cost: $10-$20 instead of $70 plus! Mole Wrenches make great nut-crackers, too!
