If your colleagues present you with a vehicle insurance expense item as “One goat”, it may be
justified. In Nepal, goats are
sacrificed to machines as a form of insurance. Rather than work against the culture, the Forestry Research
Project decided
to use both western and eastern approaches. Goats were duly killed, and their blood sprinkling over
the vehicle. Such
practices may seem peculiar to western eyes, but an understanding and observance of such customs will
help promote
good working relationships. You don’t have to agree with the idea!
