In offices where staff often travel for several weeks or months - say on leave - it is difficult to
know when someone has
returned, and to greet them suitably. You can ease the situation if you come armed with a box of eatables
to share with the
office. Get them distributed by a secretary, or invite people to eat at a coffee break. Either way people
will know you are
back, and will have a chance to come and say hello. They will appreciate the thought and the snack,
too. This worked to
great effect in DFID’s Development Division office in Barbados.
