RUDE GESTURES?
We should be aware that a large part of how we communicate comes from our body language. In some cultures,
you might
even be insulting people with seemingly innocent gestures. Learn what these might be! In Thailand it
is considered very rude
if you point your feet at someone’s head (as you might do when crossing your legs). In Nepal, never
use your left hand for
eating (its reserved for ablutions after using the loo). In some cultures, touching the head is taboo.
A book on this topic is
“Cultural Gaffes” available from Management Pocketbooks.
